19th Century Albumen photo measuring 7" x 4 1/2"s of town or school baseball team. The photo is shot with a backdrop of several buildings and an old fashioned boardwalk directly behind them. The image features 10 players, and two others who are probably managers/scorekeepers. Also shown in the photo are seven bats, two ball, and full catchers gear of the day, including mask, mitt and chest protector. The frame is period to the piece and shows overall wear, which really only enhances the image. The image is clear with some toing on the very right player. Early photos of this quality are becoming harder and harder to find as collectors buy them up and display them.
