1888 cabinet photo by Arthur Rugg of Minneapolis, Minn. of Thomas McCullum of the Minneapolis Millers. Rugg took the photos of all of the Millers of the Western Association under contract for Goodwin & Co., undoubtedly to be used in either the N172 or N173 issues. This is pose 308-1 of the N172 set, however no N173 Cabinet of McCullum is known to exist. This "Proof" as they are often called is the original image taken by the local photographer Rugg and in turn would have/could have been used for both of the Old Judge issues. Formerly in an SGC AUT N173 holder, now raw, heavy cabinet wear, yet a clear image of this short career 19th century ball player.
