Circa 1870's standard size CDV of a Base Ball player in full uniform holding his cap. While the subject is not identified, the photographer is, by his backstamp, Dupee & Co. of Portland, Maine. This is Isaac H. Dupee who was in the photography business in Portland prior to 1870 up to his death in 1875, it appears he was at the 286 Congress St. address 1871 and later. The CDV does have the very bottom edge cut off presumably to fit into one of the Victorian era photo albums. The image itself is fairly strong and quite crisp. These early pieces of baseball photography are quickly drying up as they are absorbed into collectors hands.
